Little momma’s coming home, she lost herself a job
The children ask what’s for dinner and she begins to sob
The children are crying now and stroking momma’s hair
The youngest one takes her hand and whispers in her ear
Don’t let the light go out, don’t let the light go out
Please momma, don’t you cry
The sun will rise in the morning sky
Don’t let the light go out
Little daddy fears the worst, whatever will he do
Momma says she sorry, and the kids say they are too
He hugs them all and holds them tight, he feels their heartfelt love
The middle child begins to sing, like an angel from above
Don’t let the light go out, don’t let the light go out
Please daddy, don’t you cry
The sun will rise in the morning sky
Don’t let the light go out
Little family’s all alone in a world that isn’t kind
Don’t know where to turn; they feel a little bit blind
Friends may call but they can’t know the anger and the fear
The oldest son speaks his mind for everyone to hear
Don’t let the light go out, don’t let the light go out
Please my family don’t you cry
The sun will rise in the morning sky
Don’t let the light go out
Jesus looks down from heaven and hears the children’s pleas
Compassion, love and tenderness he sends to give them ease
Please Lord take care of them, they don’t know what to say
He says, be strong my lambs, and He begins to pray
I am the light, I will never go out
Please my children don’t you cry
I will hold you in my arms tonight
And tomorrow the sun will rise, my
Precious children in my Father’s eyes
I am the light, I won’t go out
Another dawn begins to rise in the cool, crisp morning air
The family wakes to feel the warmth of God’s loving care
Another night has passed away, another night full of doubt
But the family trusts the Lord, that His light will never go out
Never go out.
